Everybody loves gifts, and if they’re really nice gifts, the better. Free cryptocurrencies are undoubtedly in that category. Earning them online isn’t as hard as you may think, and there are several easy ways to do it. You probably won’t get rich with it, but you’ll find some nice rewards.

The best part? This works for everyone who wants to give it a try, even if they don’t know much yet about cryptocurrencies. All they’ll need is a computer, Internet and some bit of free time. It can be even fun and educational, too. So, let’s check the path for some free money.

Faucets

This one is perhaps the easiest way on Earth to earn free cryptocurrencies. The process is very simple: you find a good faucet webpage or app, you register on it (or not), you complete the Captcha, and… that’s is. They’ll pay you to complete the Captcha or for doing another easy thing, like answer polls, watching an ad, or click a link. Besides, they use to organize lotteries and bets and give bonuses for daily use.

Of course, the payments are far from extraordinary. The average is one or two numbers in dollars with the participating cryptos, after a period of constant use. Most faucet users collect a lot of webpages of this kind to earn more. In this case, the money comes from ads, so, these sites are usually full of them.

Popular faucet brands are Faucets Moon (BTC, BCH, LTC, DOGE, and DASH), Cointiply (BTC and DOGE), and BestFaucetSites (+40 cryptos available).

Giveaways and airdrops

“I’m donating 300 ETH to the community! First 300 transactions with 0.2 ETH sent to the address below will receive 1 ETH in the address the 0.2 ETH came from”. Surely, you’ve seen this kind of offer before, and we need to put it clear first: that’s not a real giveaway, it’s just a blatant scam.

The real giveaways and airdrops have very clear advertising, educational or charitable purposes, and are free (they’ll never ask for your money). Don’t let yourself fall for the fake ones. This said, there are real giveaways that you can take advantage of. New tokens, platforms, and firms commonly gift small numbers of their native currencies or others, as means of advertising. Other firms, like exchanges or NGOs, can make it to teach about cryptocurrencies or to help people in need.

Specialized forums (like Bitcointalk) and crypto groups in social media are great places to find new airdrops and giveaways. They explain how to participate, and it’s for free. Besides, the site Airdropaddict offers a constantly updated list of these events. We also launch some giveaways on Alfacash, so, be sure to check our social media!

Games

Yes, you can play some fun online games and get some free cryptocurrencies as a reward. Most of them are available for Android and iOS, and they’re not big deal in terms of difficulty. A great example is a series by Bitcoin Aliens, which also includes some faucets.

Alien Run and Blockchain Game are for playing in this case. In the first one, all that you need to do is control a tiny alien in a faster and faster race, avoiding obstacles on the way. The second one is about building a “blockchain” with different color blocks, in a Tetris-like style. According to the official webpage, they’ve given away over $7m in BTC since 2014.

Other mobile titles you can explore include Bitcoin Bounce (with payments through Lightning Network), Turbo 84 (car race game), Cryptoword (Scrabble-like), Cryptopop (Candy Crush-like), and Bitcoin Food Fight. Of course, there are many more to discover (for free) in your mobile store.

Content: creation and evaluation

If you’re able to make social media posts, read stories and give comments, likes, and dislikes, then you’ll like this option. Because this one thing you use to do for free, barely for entertainment on sites like Facebook or Twitter, can be paying you some free cryptocurrencies this time. And you won’t need knowing, posting, or liking anything in especial. Only the usual things you already enjoy.

The key here is which social media platform use. Along with (or instead of) the traditional ones, you can also use the blockchain-based Steemit, Minds, Publish0x, or something similar. They offer you a decentralized space where to share your thoughts, your favorite topics, your comments, stories, and even your poetry (in the case of Publish0x). And they’ll reward you for it with their native tokens.

For example, at the end of every post in Publish0x, you’ll have to tip the author, but this doesn’t come from your own funds but the same platform. You decide how much to give to the author and how much to keep for yourself. So, you can accumulate small amounts of Bounty0x (BNTY), Project Hydro (HYDRO), the DAI stablecoin, and Basic Attention Token (BAT).

Forks

A fork in cryptos happens when some developers create a new version of a determined coin, based on the whole transaction history of the original. Is like a fork in the road, where one currency is split in two, but they share the same initial path anyway. Since it’s basically a copy-paste of a coin with some changes, the owners of the original coin can have the new version, for free.

So, for example, if Alice had in her Bitcoin wallet 1 BTC on August 1, 2017, she also has since then 1 non-claimed (and free) BCH. That’s because the developers “copypasted” that day the Bitcoin network to create Bitcoin Cash. If she decides so, she can claim her BCH too. It won’t have the same value as BTC but is free anyway.

Several wallets (you can consult yours) have guides in their blogs to claim the forked coins. Beyond this, doing the process manually requires technical knowledge. Luckily, there are some users and online services that can do it for you, for a small fee.

First of all, you should check if you have some redeemable value in forks, for which you can check sites like Findmybitcoins.ninja. If you have it and decide to get them, then you should transfer the funds in your wallet to another, because they might be at risk during the fork claiming. Only after that, you can appeal to services like CoinPanic, EasyForks, or LoyceV.

Not always are “free cryptocurrencies”

There are a lot of legit sites and ways to get free cryptocurrencies, but all that glitters isn’t gold. Remember to be careful, search for reviews, and never give up your private keys nor your funds. Do your own research (DYOR). The sites and services we mentioned above are for general information purposes only. You can use them (or not) at your own risk.
